In a surprising early trend from Tamil Nadu Assembly Election Results 2026, Chief Minister M K Stalin was trailing in his stronghold Kolathur constituency after the first round of counting of votes, according to the official Election Commission of India data.

As per the data available on the ECI results website, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate V S Babu was ahead in Kolathur with 4,130 votes. Stalin, who secured 3,244 votes in the first round, was trailing with a narrow margin of 886 votes.

AIADMK candidate P Santhana Krishnan was in third with 1,200 votes after the first round of counting of votes.

In Perambur, Vijay took early lead against DMK’s RD Shekar. The TVK chief was ahead of his DMK rival with 2990 votes. The TVK chief was also ahead in Tiruchirappalli with a margin of 3299 votes.

In a dramatic twist in the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party in early trends.

According to the ECI data, the TVK was ahead in 73 seats, followed by the AIADMK, which was leading in 54 seats. The DMK was third-placed with leads in just 29 seats.
